My Can Am X3 is street legal. I do a lot of offroad driving. We ride a wide variety of terrain...dunes, hard packed trails, wet muddy to rocky mountain areas. After a couple thousand miles I would notice that when driving on the road my steering was not responsive or tight. My X3 would dart side to side at higher speeds without my moving the steering wheel. My first thought was had a tire issue. Upon inspection that was not the case. It always felt like a tire was going to fall off or I was running too low of tire pressure and had horrible sidewall wobble. None of that was what was happening. I put the vehicle on the lift and moved my front tires side to side. I noticed that the steering rack was moving UP and Down before the steering wheel moves. I took a video and sent it to a local SxS shop. Right away they told me I needed a frame and bulk head stiffener. It was pretty expensive to have them do this and I was not quite sold on that was the issue. After several online searches I found videos of exactly my situation. This steering rack brace was the solution. I am no mechanic but after watching videos of the install, I felt I could do it. It took me longer that a mechanic and I had to redo connections a few times because the steering wheel was no longer straight. In the end this 100% solved my issue. I have a very tight and responsive steering system. I am longer afraid to drive over 50mph on the road. I have had it up over 70mph and it is rock solid. I would do this first BEFORE putting in a new steering rack or any frame/bulk head stiffener.
