The 2007ish Pontiac G5 and Chevy Cobolt are notorious for front end rattle and steering noises. I had both in our Pontiac.I didn't have much hope that this part would fix anything. I had a buddy move the steering wheel while I watched the u-joint from underneath and it didn't move much. I still bit the bullet and bought this intermediate shaft. Once pulled out, the old part had an extremely small amount of play in the u-joint, so I still didn't think the new part would do much.Good news is this new intermediate shaft did clear up the strange steering noises and seems to have gotten rid of some of the rattling as well. So, I'm happy took a chance as it did improve the car.Now I'm off to find the cause of the right front rattle. Those reading this trying to solve similar issues should know that replacing the control arm didn't cure the rattle. The control(sway) bar links are tight so I'm still not convinced they're to blame. I will replace them, along with new dampeners (struts/shocks) at each corner next. This should make this 80k mile toy-car ride like new.
