Led by pianist/keyboardist Jason Domnarski, JDT formed out of a unique vision of how a piano trio can sound. Taking inspiration from the eclecticism of NYC, the trio combines rock, jazz and electronic styles with re-contextualized acoustic sounds and innovative production. Joined by bassist Aaron Nevezie and drummer David Mason, JDT utilizes strong song forms and melodic compositions as a springboard for group improvisation. At home in both rock and jazz clubs, JDT has performed at some of NYC's best venues, including Jazz Standard, Blue Note, National Arts Club, NUBLU, and a residency at famed Lower East Side venue Rockwood Music Hall. The trio's first CD, Notes from Underground, garnered high praise from critics and fans alike and firmly established the band as a force to be reckoned with in the jazz world. JDT joins the Ropeadope family with their latest CD, Inventing the Wheel, and takes their sonic and compositional exploration even further, creating a fitting statement from one of New York City's most original piano trios. '...deeply attuned to pop production and orchestration.' New York Times 'In demand session cats that like to color outside the lines, these jazz rockers will not be categorized and make tunes for people that still believe in the Duke Ellington Policy. Fun stuff for cutting edge tastes.' Midwest Record 'If one is tired of the same old standard approach to music that you get from the typical trio, then it's time to consider sampling the interesting sound of JDT.' EJazz News ''Notes from the Underground'' takes the listener into JDT's world, where musical styles blend and invent a new and quite mesmerizing soundtrack.' Jazz Chicago.
