The bracket is not painted as shown in the picture. It is bare metal. There were no instructions with it, but it was fairly simple to figure out how to install it. The hardware supplied was good quality and I am satisfied overall with the product. It's nothing fancy, but at the price, a good value. The stock brackets supplied by GM on my old 1969 Chevy small block engine were nearly impossible to adjust properly. If you have fitment issues with this one, it is fairly easy to shim it to the position necessary using flat washers. You may also have to replace your drive belt with one that is slightly longer.
